Every trip is led by a sommelier who brings context, curiosity, and connection to every stop. With a somm for a guide, you’ll go deeper than the average traveler ever could — tasting more thoughtfully, asking better questions, and uncovering the stories, people, and craftsmanship behind every bottle.
Each Underground Sommelier tour is intentionally limited to no more than 15 guests, creating an intimate, relaxed atmosphere where real connection and deeper learning can thrive. With two hosts — including an educated sommelier — you won't get lost in a crowd and strangers quickly become friends.
We go beyond tasting rooms and discussions — yes, you’ll learn a lot, but you’ll also have a lot of fun along the way. Think hands-on cooking classes, side adventures, and opening unexpected bottles in unforgettable places. That's what is so fun about exploring the world through food and drink!
Hi, I’m Anneliese—founder of Underground Sommelier, Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW), and WSET 3-certified geek. I created this company out of a deep love for wine, travel, and learning
—and because I believe that if the job you want doesn’t exist,
you should build it yourself.
I’ve spent over a decade working in the wine and spirits industry, and what’s always lit me up the most is teaching—whether I’m leading a wine dinner, hosting a tasting event, or training restaurant staff. I’ve seen how powerful it is when people start to connect the dots between what’s in the glass and the culture, craft, and history behind it.
Underground Sommelier is about taking that experience further—off the beaten path and into the vineyards, cellars, and distilleries around the world. These are immersive, small-group journeys
for travelers who want to learn, explore, and truly
experience every sip.
