Jalisco is where tequila makes sense and this is the trip that proves it. Eight days of agave fields, distillery deep-dives, street food, private chef meals, pottery in Tlaquepaque, and two tequila education classes, all led by a sommelier who will change the way you reach for that bottle forever.

Jalisco is the birthplace of tequila, and Guadalajara is its beating heart — a city of bold flavors, vibrant markets, and a food culture built around birria, tortas ahogadas, and fresh-made tortillas. Beyond the city, the town of Tequila sits in a UNESCO-designated agave landscape where blue Weber agave has been grown and harvested for centuries. Tequila comes in distinct expressions — blanco, reposado, añejo — shaped by time, production method, and the specific terroir of the fields where the agave was grown.

This trip is built around understanding tequila the way the people who make it do — through place, process, and a lot of tasting. We'll tour both large-scale and traditional small-batch distilleries, take two tequila education classes (one focused on spirits, one on cocktails), eat our way through Guadalajara's street food scene, and spend a full day cooking together at the villa. Tlaquepaque's artisan markets and a Plaza de los Mariachis dinner are also on the agenda, because culture and tequila are, it turns out, inseparable.

Regan Reed is the bomb and we'll come back and tell you why in a little bit.

We'll walk agave landscapes, taste across production styles, and ask better questions together, building practical knowledge without the pretension. Expect real conversation, clear explanations, and plenty of time to connect what's in your glass to the place and the people who made it.

A week in Guadalajara with a private chef, a sommelier, three distillery visits, a street food tour through Jalisco's culinary heart, a pottery class in Tlaquepaque, and a Plaza de los Mariachis dinner sounds like the kind of trip that costs $10,000+ — and with most operators, it probably would.
At $5,300 per person, you're getting nearly everything: lodging at our villa, most meals, every distillery visit and tasting, two tequila education classes, and transportation throughout the week. Compare that to typical luxury experiential travel operators charging $8,000–$15,000+ for a similar week — often without an actual sommelier leading the education (hi, can't wait to meet you!) and without the hands-on, in-the-kitchen and in-the-agave-field access you'll get here.
This isn't a trip where things happen for you. It's one where you're in it the whole time: at the street food stall, at the stove, in the distillery. We want that to be the difference between "just a" vacation and an experience you'll still be talking about in five years.
You’ll arrive at the airport in Guadalajara, where we’ll pick you up and take you to our villa in the heart of the city.
The afternoon will be open so you can settle in, relax, and get comfortable.
Snacks and drinks will be available, followed by dinner at the house prepared by our chef, Regan.
Our first full day will be spent exploring Guadalajara and getting acquainted with the city’s food, culture, and rhythm.
After a light breakfast prepared by Regan, we’ll head out early for a guided street food tour, tasting our way through some of the dishes and flavors that define Jalisco.
Later that afternoon, we’ll regroup at the villa for our first tequila class and a cocktail before heading downtown for a great dinner.
After breakfast, we’ll travel to the town of Tequila.
Our first distillery visit will be Sauza, where we’ll visit agave fields, see large-scale tequila production in action, and enjoy a traditional lunch.
Afterward, if we haven’t had quite enough tequila yet, we’ll stop at the bar that created the famous Batanga cocktail before settling in for some downtime at the beautiful Hotel Solar de las Ánimas.
The evening is open for you to enjoy a quiet dinner on your own or head out with new friends.
On our second day in Tequila, we’ll walk to a nearby café for breakfast before visiting Fortaleza Distillery to explore tequila production from a more traditional, generational perspective.
From there, we’ll drive to El Arenal for a visit to the legendary Cascahuín Distillery, followed by a casual lunch nearby.
We’ll then return to Guadalajara, where the evening is yours to explore the city’s culinary nightlife.
After a chef-prepared breakfast, we’ll head to Tlaquepaque to explore its historic center, artisan shops, and colorful streets before taking a hands-on pottery class.
In the evening, we’ll gather back at the villa for another tequila class, this time focusing on cocktails, before enjoying dinner prepared by Chef Regan.
We want you to have time to explore Guadalajara on your own, so the daytime is completely open.
In the evening, we’ll visit a tequila bar to flex our new tequila knowledge before heading to Plaza de los Mariachis for dinner and live mariachi music.
Our final full day will be centered around a big group cook.
After breakfast, we’ll spend much of the day cooking together, with snacks and drinks available throughout the afternoon.
That evening, we’ll sit down together for dinner at the villa, complete with delicious cocktails for a celebratory final night.
Breakfast will be provided, as usual, before we drive you back to the airport or see you off in a new direction to continue exploring Mexico on your own.
We keep this simple and low-pressure:
$1,000 deposit holds your spot
Remaining balance due 30 days before departure (by December 31, 2026)
Spots are limited to 12 guests, so once they're filled, they're filled — but there's no fine print and no surprise fees. Just a clear, fair way to commit to a week curated around experience and culture (our biggest goal is to make it a week you'll be glad you said yes to.)
Questions before you commit? Just ask — that's what we're here for.
